Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will play their third match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday (27 September) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Beyond the clash, KXIP’s director of cricket operations Anil Kumble has warned that the bowling side needs to be more cautious given the small boundaries of the field.
The Rajasthan Royals had already played in Sharjah, where they registered a comfortable win by 16 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Sanju Samson was the match winner for him, as he scored nine maximum runs in his innings of 74 off 32 balls.
Samson took advantage of Sharjah’s short boundaries and put pressure on the CSK bowlers. The wicketkeeper-batsman’s innings helped him set a target of 216 runs.
Error margin too low: Anil Kumble
In a recent interview, the former Indian cricketer said that the players practiced in Sharjah, but they need to bowl in good areas against RR. He said that the margin of error is very small as batsmen will enjoy batting there.
He said, ‘All players know about the boundaries, we have practiced a few times here in Sharjah. To that end, you need to bowl in good areas, if you bowl in good areas, which means you still do business, ”felt Anil Kumble.
“This is something where batsmen will enjoy batting, so in bowling, the margin of error is very low, hopefully we will be able to do that.”
Well, KXIP have shown that they can also set a target of 200 runs after their last match performance against RCB. With the help of KL Rahul, an extraordinary century, he gave the target of 206 runs under Virat Kohli. In the end, he too defended the target and won the match by 97 runs.
So, the match between RR and KXIP is going to be competitive.
